FSTVL Magazine

For this assignment, we were asked to design a 10-15 page magazine for our individual assignment. The magazine consists of cover page, content & editorial, news & features, and advertisement. Various magazines were used as references. After looking at all the examples, I decided to design a magazine inspired by music, arts and events - something like Juice, MixMag, Rolling Stones.

I basically went for a modern minimalistic direction where its more simplified in terms of layout, more direct and giving focus on one subject. Here are the screen shots of the progress of FSTVL Magazine. 

The reason why i chose FSTVL as the magazine masthead is because I was inspired by music festivals that not just solely concentrate on music. Therefore taking Festival as the name of the magazine, I also decided to take out all the vowels out from the spelling to give it more of an edge to it. 

The sound of FSTVL directly tells readers that, that this magazine is for those festival goers, music lovers, budding artists or even readers who just want to get more information about musicians.

The typeface used for the masthead FSTVL is Navia Type which is structured into the now in design, where it is edgy and consist of an art direction, since I was actually looking for a font that symbolises all three elements (music, art, events).
